The outputs of our Child Rights Project (ENRICH) are now available! On 18 February, 2025ebruary, 2025 J&E held an online webinar/event on child rights in the context of climate and environmental matters. Besides being highly attended from more than 20 countries, it featured some of the most important speakers in this field, from the United Nations via CRIN to CFJ-EN, just to name a few.

🌍 Great news from Naturvernforbundet on their partial victory in the Fjord lawsuit! The EFTAr /> The EFTA Court recently ruled that economic benefits alone cannot justify environmental harm, strengthening the case against dumping mining waste in Norway’s Førdefjorden. In other words, income for employees, owners, and the public cannot be considered an "overriding public interest." 🚨 Nordic Mining had planned to dispose of 250 million tons of waste into the fjord over 50 years. This is a move strongly opposed by environmental groups, who argue it would devastate marine life and violate environmental laws.

⚖️ This ruling will play a key role in the upcoming appeal hearing in June 2025, where environmental organisations will seek to overturn previous court decisions allowing the project. A victory could halt the waste dumping and set a precedent for stronger environmental protections across Europe!Read moreRead less
