Questionnaire to improve the work of environmental and climate defenders in Europe

We invite all environmental and climate defenders, especially young people, to share their views on the challenges they face in the fight for environmental and climate protection in Europe.

The questionnaire, developed as part of the BeLIFE project, aims to better understand the risks faced by environmental and climate defenders across Europe and to identify the essential resources they need most.

The results of the questionnaire will serve as a foundation for developing guidelines and resources to strengthen support and safety for activists, contributing to more effective environmental protection efforts through concrete policy recommendations for the European Union and proposals for civil society.

How can you help?
Complete the questionnaire, available in English, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, and Spanish, and share it within your networks, associations, and youth groups. Your responses will remain anonymous, and all data will be used exclusively to develop policies aimed at improving the protection and support for environmental and climate defenders.

You can access the questionnaire here.

The BeLIFE project, running from 2024 to 2027, focuses on the role that citizens and civil society can play in enforcing and ensuring compliance with European Environmental Law, particularly the European Green Deal, through the collaboration of four pan-European environmental organizations, including Youth and Environment Europe (YEE), Justice and Environment (J&E), and the Environmental Law Association Guta.

The BeLife project has received funding from the European Union’s LIFE programme.
