Justice and Environment conducted the study focused on sectors such as water use, waste management, and forestry, examining the extent of public participation and its effectiveness in influencing decision-making processes. The findings highlight that while some procedures exhibit elements akin to EIAs, they lack the systematic, iterative-deliberative approach characteristic of the EIA process.
The findings of the study aim to inform policymakers at both national and EU levels, as well as consultants and stakeholders, about the importance of addressing these gaps to enhance environmental democracy and ensure sustainable development.
